One part of the Van Wyck Expressway Deck Replacement Project takes place in Flushing, adjacent to the Flushing Meadow Park. It consists of the rehabilitation of the elevated highway spanning approximately 1 mile. This project, carried out by the contractor, Posillico – El Sol joint venture, consists of the replacement of the existing concrete decks, bearings, some concrete piers along with necessary steel repairs. ceEntek’s Next Generation UHPC 2.0TM was used in the replacement of expansion joints with new UHPC link slabs as well as in longitudinal joints for the cast-in-place deck.

Additionally, UHPC precast connections and shear pockets were cast as part of the replacement of two on-ramps next to the Flushing Meadow Park. The joints and link slabs were grinded down to create a smooth and level riding surface.
